US Ski - Cross Country Team News Randall Leads USA in XC Relay
SJUSJOEN, Norway (Nov. 20) - The U.S. Ski Team's Kikkan Randall (Anchorage) skied to second in her leg, recording one of the fastest times of the day, as the USA finished ninth in the 4x5k mixed technique relay in Sjusjoen. Randall, skiing the second classic leg, was 13.5 seconds back. Liz Stephen (Montpelier, VT) was sixth fastest in her third leg (freestyle). The U.S. men were 11th, less than a minute out. Norway dominated both the men's and women's relays. Action now moves to Kuusamo, Finland next weekend for a full-on nordic opener with ski jumping and nordic combined and cross country, including the season opening sprint. Randall finished third in the World Cup sprint standings and led during the mid-point of the season.

US Ski - Cross Country Team News Randall, Stephen Open With Career Bests
SJUSJOEN, Norway (Nov. 19) – The U.S. Ski Team's Kikkan Randall (Anchorage) scored a career best non-sprint finish as the FIS Cross Country World Cup opened in Sjusjoen. Randall, who was third in the season-long World Cup sprint standings last year, was eighth in the opening 10k freestyle technique race. Liz Stephen (Montpelier, VT) matched her career best in 18th. Norway's Marit Bjoergen won the women's 10k while Swede Johan Olsson won the men's 15k. The World Cup openers were moved to Sjusjoen, near the 1994 Olympic city of Lillehammer, because of low early season snow in Beitostolen. The weekend continues Sunday with relays.

The team was announced during a training and testing camp for cross country athletes at the USSA's Center of Excellence in Park City.

LAHTI, Finland (March 13) - An outstanding qualifying effort by World Cup sprint leader Kikkan Randall (Anchorage) went for nought Sunday as the U.S. Ski Team cross country star failed to advance from her quarterfinal heat in Lahti. Randall dropped to third in the World Cup standings, but stayed in striking distance with one event remaining.

FOX RIVER GROVE, IL (Oct 1.) – Young gun Sarah Hendrickson (Park City, UT) soared to her first U.S. Championship title in front of nearly a thousand spectators at the historical Norge Ski Club in Fox River Grove, IL near Chicago. Olympian Anders Johnson (Park City, UT) took his third U.S. Championship title after sweeping the men's field. Hendrickson's normal hill win is a boost from her second place large hill finish at the U.S. Championships earlier this year in Park City. The U.S. Ski Team's Jessica Jerome (Park City, UT), who won the large hill title, was third.

US Ski - Jumping / Nordic Combined Demong Takes 8th Career U.S. Title
FOX RIVER GROVE, IL (Oct 1.) – Olympic Champion Billy Demong (Vermontville, NY) out-sprinted the competition in the last 200 meters to take his eighth career U.S. Championship title in the nordic combined normal hill competition. Bryan Fletcher (Steamboat Springs, CO) jumped his way to first heading into the roller ski portion and skied a strong race, finishing third. The Championships took place at the Norge Ski Club in Fox River Grove, IL near Chicago, one of the oldest nordic clubs in America.

FOX RIVER GROVE, IL (Sept. 30) – Peter Frenette (Saranac Lake, NY) and Jessica Jerome (Park City, UT) will be going for title sweeps in the U.S. Ski Jumping Championships Saturday on the Norge Ski Club's K70 hill in Fox River Grove, IL. Frenette and Jerome each took gold in the large hill competition held in July on the Olympic jump in Park City, UT. Also on the schedule Saturday is the U.S. Nordic Combined Championships.
