Upcoming Events and Activities at Breckenridge January 7-14—Ullr Fest This long-standing event pays homage to Ullr, the mythical Norse God of Snow. A weeklong schedule of events ranges from the Ullympics to the Ullr Bonfire to the famous (and unofficial world’s craziest) Ullr Fest Parade down Main Street. January 9—Next X Snow Search Qualifier Qualify for the Next X Snow Search, the world's hottest ski and snowboard event for kids. Cruise around the park, pipe, bumps and all mountain terrain with our judges to determine who makes the cut to go to the finals in Keystone Feb. 11-13, 2005. January 15 – 23—National Skier and Snowboarder Safety Week Once again this season Breckenridge Ski Resort is proud to offer a weeklong National Skier and Snowboarder Safety Week itinerary. The resort will focus efforts on teaching the points of Your Responsibility Code and on SmartStyle, the freestyle terrain code. Skiers and riders will have the opportunity to participate in prize contests throughout the week as Breck’s individual departments introduce their own Safety Week programs and contests.. January 15-24—Breckenridge Adventure Summit for Women Breckenridge introduces its first annual Breckenridge Adventure Summit for Women. Things get rolling with LUNAFEST, a national festival of films by, for or about women (www.lunabar.com/lunafest/). Following LUNAFEST, women of all ages can participate in female-specific equipment demos, women’s camps and clinics in alpine in-bounds and backcountry skiing, as well as healing components at Breckenridge's new healing center, Sacred Tree. January 17-24—Take Your Daughters to the Snow Week Every woman is a daughter at the annual "Take Your Daughter to the Snow Week". January 18-21—The Rally In preparation for the Winter X Games Nine, taking place Jan. 29- Feb.1 in Aspen/Snowmass, CO, the top skiers and snowboarders in the world are invited to a private training session in Breckenridge. January 20—20th Anniversary Rail Jam Series Come on out for a FREE rail jam every 20th of the month, to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Snowboarding at Breckenridge. Breckenridge was one of the first resorts to allow snowboarding. Be a part of our yearlong celebration at the 20th Anniversary of Snowboarding Rail Jam Series. January 21-23—Rocky Mountain Park and Pipe Camp Drop into the pipe, fly over gaps, and clear more advanced rails during the Rocky Mountain Park & Pipe Camp. Rocky Mountain is a specialized three-day camp for intermediate and above level skiers and riders ages 13 and up. No prior park and pipe experience necessary. Classes will be formed based on abilities and goals. Breckenridge’s elite freestyle instructors will teach basic skills in one of our four smaller parks to more advanced skills in the Freeway Terrain Park, one of the best known and highest rated parks in the country. January 24-30—International Snow Sculpture Championships Fourteen teams from around the world compete in this eye-pleasing event, creating mammoth works of art from 12-feet-tall, 20-ton blocks of snow. The sculptors work during the week, reshaping the bounty of Mother Nature into freeform whimsy or spellbinding intricacy. Well-known artists act as judges for the event, which has brought sculptors from as far away as Morocco, Belize, Japan, Canada, Scandinavia, Russia, China and Wales.
