BRECKENRIDGE, CO – February 17, 2005- Ladies, getting tired of the view from behind? Change the scenery and your skiing during Jeannie Thoren’s Women’s Ski Equipment Demo at Breckenridge Ski Resort. Jeannie Thoren, one of the “top 25 most influential people in skiing” by SKI Magazine, brings her expertise and passion to Breckenridge Ski Resort on Saturday, Feb. 26 and Sunday, Feb. 27. In addition, Jeannie will give a lecture on Friday, Feb. 25 at Breckenridge Sports at the Village at Breckenridge. Breckenridge invites women skiers of any age and ability to try the latest ski technology from a wide variety of manufacturers, as well as learn about boot fitting and skiing techniques.
Women and men are created differently, and women specific products are continually being developed as the biomechanical dissimilarities are being studied. During the weekend, participants can find out what it’s like to try different skis and different lengths, boots that are designed specifically for women, and find out if equipment is the only thing hampering the perfect run. The cost is free, and gloves, socks, and poles are also in stock for participants to try.
Jeannie Thoren is a crusader for women skiers everywhere. As a competitor and instructor, she found that to perfect her own skiing she needed some serious adjustments to her ski equipment. While customizing her own skis and boots, she realized that many other women were facing similar challenges. Thoren’s thirty-year quest to improve women’s skiing revolutionized the thinking of the entire snow sports industry.
The Demo Days run from 9a.m.-3p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the base of Peak 8, near the Bergenhof restaurant. As a kickoff to the weekend, Jeannie will give her lecture, “Women are not small men, they need different ski equipment” on Friday, February 25 at 7p.m. in Breckenridge Sports at the Village at Breckenridge. Interested participants can shop and pre-register beginning at 5p.m. on Friday. Registration will also be done on the days of the demos.
